What are eating disorders?
Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses affecting over 1.6 million people in the UK – young people aged 12-20 are most at risk of developing an eating disorder. Beat is the UK’s leading charity supporting people affected by eating disorders and campaigning on their behalf.

To help schools Beat has developed a FREE comprehensive PSHE classroom activity and awareness week assembly plan available when you register for Sock it to Eating Disorders. We will provide you with resources aimed specifically at KS3, KS4 or KS5 with starter and plenary which will contribute to SEAL targets.

Sock it to Eating Disorders is a fun way for your school to fundraise for Beat so we can continue to run our essential support services and raise awareness of these serious mental illnesses. The pack contains everything you will need to organise a ‘silly sock’ event.
Beat’s training services for schools
Beat provides evidence based eating disorders training to schools and our Educate Plus package is currently on promotion. Book your training today and save £350 on a half-day session and £650 on a full day’s training. To be eligible for this discount all sessions must be booked and paid for before 31 January 2014 and sessions must be delivered before 31 March 2014. Free self-esteem workshops
We also offer free self-esteem workshops to KS3 pupils and staff in partnership with Dove. Register for a free workshop in your school.
