Bangor is the largest top rated department in UK Psychology and one of the top 5 largest overall. We are able to provide your pupils with a unique combination of factors that will ensure that they achieve their full potential in a department that combines excellence with accessibility. The following factors are a few of our key attributes that are directly relevant to your pupils:
The School operates an admissions policy that reflects our principles of excellence and accessibility, and ensures that a first-class degree is within reach of a wide range of candidates. Our normal offers are in the range of 340-280 points. We do not accept General Studies or Key Skills and we strongly prefer applicants to have at least 1 relevant science A level. It is expected that this will change to a requirement for 2013 entry onwards. According to an external examiners report “The School of Psychology at Bangor is producing some of the best quality psychology graduates in the UK”. Other recent reports include comments such as "Students clearly benefit from working in a department with a strong research base" and "I have been very impressed by the imaginative use of assessments that are employed in this programme."
Dr. Tracey Lloyd is the department's Schools Liaison Officer and is currently developing a portfolio of outbound and inbound activities revolving around the A Level Psychology Syllabus. Tracey is currently developing a website, some teaching resources and presentations about careers in psychology to deliver to sixth forms. Tracey may also be able to offer a “Learning to Learn” session which is aimed at helping pupils improve their academic performance. Tracey would be keen to hear from schools and colleges who would like more contact with Bangor Psychology and would welcome any suggestions for outreach materials and activities that could be developed in the future. If you would like to contact her she can be reached on 01248 382944 or by email at email@example.com
