Dear Headteacher

What do Welshcakes and Wellies have in common?

Welshcakes and Wellies are ways in which your school can learn, have fun and get involved in raising pupils awareness of disability and cerebral palsy as well as raise vital funds for Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales this school year.

Bake for Bobath 1st – 8th March 2011
Sell a Welshcake during the week of St David’s Day and your school can make a difference to over 350 children in Wales who have cerebral palsy. Simply hold your St David’s Day celebrations as usual and incorporate a cake sale to staff, parents and children.

Here is a comment from Rougemont School, Newport who did Bake for Bobath last year;

“We very much enjoyed doing Bake for Bobath last year. We found we were able to cover many areas of the curriculum from PSHE and Art to Mathematics, Literacy and Science. The children designed posters, made invitations, followed a recipe to make cakes and then also worked out the money on the day. A representative from Bobath came to our school to explain a bit more about cerebral palsy and the Bobath centre so the children understood more about the charity. We have already started planning for this year’s Bake for Bobath!” Mrs Hotchkiss, teacher.

Cerebral Palsy Awareness ‘Wicked Welly’ Week 10th – 17th October 2011
Get your Wellies on in Autumn and make every step count! Many schools last year organised a Welly Walk on their playing fields or did a nature trail during the week to raise funds to help improve the lives of children with cerebral palsy.  We would love you to do the same, if this week is not convenient for your school please feel free to hold a ‘Welly Week’ some other time during the year. Last year many schools held their fundraising day for Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week as part of their harvest celebrations.

Fulfilling potential
Cerebral palsy is the biggest disability group in children in the UK. It is caused by damage to a baby or young child’s brain. Cerebral palsy can affect movement, sensation, perception, cognition, communication and eating and drinking. Bobath therapists work together to give each child the skills to explore their world, communicate their needs, maximise their potential and so improve their quality of life.

For a free fundraising pack for either event please contact the fundraising team. We would be very happy to visit your school and give a lesson on cerebral palsy/disability awareness and the work we do at Bobath. To receive a copy of our schools pack with further ideas for lessons please download it free from www.bobathwales.org or alternatively email fundraising@bobathwales.org or contact 029 20522600.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Annwyl Prifathro

Beth sydd yn gyffredin rhwng Teisennau Cri ac Esgidiau Glaw?

Mae Teisennau Cri/Picau ar y Maen ac Esgidiau Glaw yn ffyrdd y gall eich ysgol ddysgu, cael hwyl a chymryd rhan wrth godi ymwybyddiaeth disgyblion o anabledd a pharlys yr ymennydd yn ogystal â chodi arian hollbwysig ar gyfer Canolfan Therapi Plant Bobath Cymru yn ystod y flwyddyn ysgol.

Pobi dros Bobath 1-8 Mawrth2011
Gwerthwch deisennau cri yn ystod wythnos Dydd Gŵyl Dewi a gall eich ysgol wneud gwahaniaeth i dros 350 o blant yng Nghymru sydd â pharlys yr ymennydd. Medrwch gynnal eich dathliadau arferol ar gyfer Dydd Gŵyl Dewi a chynnwys arwerthiant teisennau i rieni, staff a phlant.

Dyma sylwadau gan Ysgol Rougemont, Casnewydd a fu’n Pobi dros Bobath y llynedd: “Fe wnaethom wirioneddol  fwynhau Pobi dros Bobath y llynedd. Bu modd i ni gynnwys llawer o feysydd y cwricwlwm o ABCh a Chelf i Fathemateg, Llythrennedd a Gwyddoniaeth. Bu’r plant yn cynllunio posteri, gwneud gwahoddiadau, dilyn rysáit i wneud teisennau a hefyd yn cyfri’r arian ar y dydd. Daeth cynrychiolydd o Bobath i’n hysgol i esbonio ychydig mwy am barlys yr ymennydd a chanolfan Bobath fel bod y plant yn deall mwy am yr elusen. Rydym eisoes wedi cychwyn cynllunio ar gyfer Pobi dros Bobath eleni!” Mrs Hotchkiss, athrawes

Wythnos ‘Weli Wych’ Ymwybyddiaeth Parlys yr Ymennydd 10-17 Hydref 2011
Gwisgwch eich Welis yn yr Hydref a gwneud i bob cam gyfrif! Y llynedd trefnodd llawer o ysgolion Dro Welis ar eu meysydd chwarae neu fynd ar lwybr natur yn ystod yr wythnos i godi arian i helpu gwella bywyd plant gyda pharlys yr ymennydd. Byddem yn falch iawn pe medrech chi wneud yr un fath. Os nad yw’r wythnos hon yn gyfleus i’ch ysgol, mae croeso i chi gynnal ‘Wythnos Weli’ rywbryd arall yn ystod y flwyddyn. Y llynedd cynhaliodd llawer o ysgolion eu diwrnod codi arian ar gyfer Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Parlys yr Ymennydd fel rhan o’u dathliadau cynhaeaf.

Cyflawni potensial

Parlys yr ymennydd yw’r grŵp anabledd mwyaf ymysg plant yn y Deyrnas Unedig. Fe’i hachosir gan niwed i ymennydd baban neu blentyn ifanc. Gall parlys yr ymennydd effeithio ar symudiad, teimlad, canfyddiad, gwybyddiaeth, cyfrathrebu a bwyta ac yfed. Mae therapyddion Bobath yn cydweithio i roi’r sgiliau i bob plentyn ymchwilio eu byd, cyfathrebu eu hanghenion, cynyddu eu potensial ac felly wella eu hansawdd bywyd.

I gael pecyn codi arian am ddim ar gyfer y naill ddigwyddiad a/neu’r llall, cysylltwch â’r tîm codi arian os gwelwch yn dda. Byddem yn hapus iawn i ymweld â’ch ysgol a rhoi gwers ar ymwybyddiaeth o barlys yr ymennydd/anabledd a gwaith Bobath. Medrir lawrlwytho copi o’n pecyn ysgolion gyda mwy o syniadau am wersi o www.bobathwales.org neu drwy anfon neges e-bost at   fundraising@bobathwales.org neu ffonio 029 20522600.

Diolch am eich amser yn darllen fy llythyr. Edrychaf ymlaen at glywed gennych.

Yn gywir iawn
