Fathers Story Week 9-15 June 2014

Countdown to Fathers' Story Week

It’s time to sign up for Fathers’ Story Week, a week-long celebration of fathers and father-figures, held in the days leading up to Father’s Day (15 June).

Following the success of FSW in previous years, we are now extending the concept to help you run father-focused events all year long. Sign up now on our website www.fathersstoryweek.org to find new resources for 2014 as well as trusted ideas from previous years – and to receive updates as we add them through the year.

For 2014 we’re inviting dads to make ‘selfies’ of themselves telling and reading stories to their children, which we will upload onto the FSW web-site and social media to inspire other fathers to get reading with their children. All selfies will be entered into a prize draw to win a signed copy of 'Dustbin Dad' by children’s author Peter Bently – who also wrote ‘Cats Ahoy’.

And celebrities are getting in on the act too - contributing to ‘Celebrity Story Time’, a year-round add-on to FSW, giving you useful material to download and play to children and their fathers at your ‘Fathers’ Story Time’ events. Celebrities contributing this year include TV presenter Tim Lovejoy and Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou.

Also on the FSW website is information about our award winning, evidence-based literacy intervention Fathers Reading Every Day (FRED).
