Dear Headteacher,

Hope this finds you well. My name's Rachel and I'm developing a documentary for Channel 4 Education about stepfamilies, and I'm hoping you might be able to help.

We're currently looking for families who are about to move in together for the first time-a mum and a dad each with their own families already, who are getting married again.

Of course this is a bit of a needle in a haystack casting process, but schools are a good place for us to start, so I hope you don't mind me getting in touch.

There's more information about the programme idea in the flyer attached. Do you think it would it be possible for this to be displayed on the school or community noticeboard, emailed to students or posted on your intranet?

Below is a more detailed summary of what we're trying to do:

It is estimated that 1 in 3 of all families in the UK is now a stepfamily. This film, developed by Firecracker Films for the Channel 4 Education department, will get behind the headlines to explore the relationships and difficulties faced when two families become one.
We will follow families who are going through the transition of moving in together for the first time. Our aim is to gain a realistic and honest portrayal of this process and the emotions and feelings experienced by everyone involved.

We're currently looking for families who are about to move in together for the first time - a mum and a dad each with their own families already, who are starting a new phase of their lives by moving in together. We'd also love to hear from teenagers and young people who think their parents might fit the bill, which is why we're contacting schools like yours around the UK.

All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence. We understand the sensitive nature of this subject, and have much experience working with families, young people and the complex subject of new relationships. We regularly work with a trained clinical psychologist who will be on hand to discuss any issues the families may have with regards the filming process, should it progress further.

If you've any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a ring on 0207 349 4777, or contact me via this email address.

Kind regards,
