Edible Insects: Yucky or Yummy?

Hi,
     My name is Gary Bartlett and after many years in product development I now give inspirational talks about sustainability, the environment and what part edible insects can play in overcoming the issues that we face today.
I’d love the opportunity to come and talk to the pupils at your school about this very topical and important subject.

Could you crunch a cricket or munch a mealworm?
What everyday foods were once seen as disgusting?
Can insects save the planet?
A fun, informative and engaging talk……
with just a little bit of bug tasting!    

My talk discusses:
  • Insects in our everyday foods
  • The sustainability and environmental challenge
  • Insects: Good for us ………. Good for the environment
  • A change in perception: a history of yucky food
  • Today’s bug products: pasta, snacks and burgers    
……….. as well as a fun quiz ……… and a little bit of bug tasting!

The talk can be adapted for all ages and covers sustainability issues in the current curriculum especially within Geography and in Food Technology/GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition.
I have worked with ITV (I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!) and Bear Grylls and so my talk is fun, informative and engaging ………….. with just a little bit of bug tasting.
