ATTENTION all PSHE teachers - After much anticipation ‘Operation Smoke Storm’ is now ready for use and is being rolled out nationwide.  This is a new innovative web based tool (commissioned by the Department of Health) aimed at helping teachers to effectively educate young people on key issues to do with smoking and the tobacco industry. What’s more, this resource is FREE to all London-based youth establishments and only a nominal’ fee is applied to everyone else!

Age range:

Operation Smoke Storm has primarily been designed for secondary schools teachers to deliver in PSHE to Key Stage 3 students (11-14yrs). However, this resource has also been shown to be effective when delivered to older students and in other less formal youth settings.  All curriculum points covered are clearly outlined for teachers.

During a recent school-based trial run in Hammersmith and Fulham student awareness around key smoking issues increased, on average, by 77% (following intervention delivery). 71% of students also told their friends and/or their parents about the resource.
