Dear Headteacher,

I am a parent of a Year 1 pupil at Front Street Primary School in Whickham, Gateshead.

Recently I completed a project to build a new website for the school (www.frontstreetprimary.co.uk), after it was identified that the existing site was not working as an effective method of communicating with parents.

The new site has been a huge success. The fact that it's so simple & quick for any member of staff to login and post articles, photos, or examples of the children's work means they can do so regularly, keeping parents fully up to date with what's going on in school. There is no reliance on one individual to update the site - staff can take responsibility for their own year group or curriculum area. Meanwhile parents can easily see articles relevant to their own son or daughter, and can subscribe to an email newsletter which the website sends out automatically.

I am now writing to other schools offering to set up a similar site. As a professional web developer I usually charge over £5,000 to set up this type of multi-user system. As a parent at Front Street I gave my time & resouces for free, but for other schools while I naturally need to cover my costs I'm still keen to keep charges as low as possible. Therefore I'd require only a £500 setup fee, followed by a £100 annual maintenance fee.

I appreciate you may have a website already but I can't stress enough the difference this system can make to school-parent communication, and to teachers' ability to use the website to its full potential. Please feel free to look around Front Street's site (www.frontstreetprimary.co.uk) and let me know if you may be interested.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks and regards,

Andrew Ace
