Hello, I work for a TV production company, Dragonfly Productions, I hope you don’t mind me writing to you and I wonder if you would consider choosing one of our documentary series “The Family” as a topic of discussion for a PSE lesson. The last series of Family was the first time an Asian family had ever opened their doors to cameras on British Television. Through them we saw how a family works through important issues such loyalty, reconciliation, religion and serious illness. “The Family” is relevant to all children who have a family, as everybody can recognise and compare their own experiences to those they see on the television. Below is a link to the website where you can find some clips of series 2. Watching them in class might generate some interesting discussions about how the children feel about family and what families experience together. www.channel4.com/programmes/the-family We are also looking for a new family to be part of series 3 and we would like children to nominate families who they think are interesting examples of families in 2010. Attached here is a poster which you might like to put up in the school / classroom. If you would like us to come and visit your school, or would like us to put some posters in the mail, please contact the address below and we can try to arrange something. Many Thanks Victoria Gardner 120 - 124 Curtain Road, T: +44 (0) 207 033 2303
