The Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, has said he would like School Pupils to be able to recite Poetry, as part of their Education.
The Excelcior Award is to encourage this.

The Book is 60 Chronological Poems on the Queen's Life and Diamond Jubilee,
covering the Queen's Life, Marriage, Coronation, Silver and Golden Jubilees, the
Jubilee Olympics, to the Wedding and announcement of an Heir for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Pupils will have seen the Celebrations, and taken part in them, giving them a greater understanding of the Poems, and will help their interpretations. (On 3rd. June 2013 is the 60th Anniversary of the Coronation)

The Excelcior Award will promote contacts and communication between Schools, and encourage Pupils, because it is a Competition. There are 3 Age Groups.

The Grand Final will be in London

The School's Winners will compete against each other in their County, and these Winners will then compete in the 9 Areas ( There are procedures for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) These Winners will then compete in the Grand Final in London, before Celebrity Judges.

The Competition will be followed by The Independent Newspaper
