Internationally recognised Professional Qualifications for ICT staff within Education

Hello

FITS is an education standard designed to help ICT staff within Education deliver a high quality service to learners and staff which has been used widely throughout the UK and worldwide for the last 7 years.

Over the past 2 or 3 years many technicians and network managers have asked us for an accreditation scheme that helps them build the right skills for their job whilst gaining formal recognition for their experience and contribution.

The good news is that we have listened to your requests and have now introduced 2 new professional qualifications that also provide you with credits towards level 4 & 5 NVQ’s. These qualifications help to ensure that schools and colleges benefit from implementing best practice and provide you with the recognition you’ve been asking for.

With the increasing use of ICT within Education, reliable infrastructure and effective support is becoming ever more critical. FITS helps to deliver this via a collection of best practice processes and tools gathered from the IT industry as a whole which have been especially adapted to the needs of Education.

FITS was originally developed by Becta and is now being managed and supported by The FITS Foundation, a not for profit organisation dedicated to ensuring that ICT staff have the right skills and resources.

FITS is initially available with 2 distinct qualifications:

  1. The FITS Practitioner qualification introduces the concepts of service management and security. It shows how to run ICT as a service within a school or college.
  2. The FITS Advanced qualification further develops the concepts introduced in the practitioner qualification by showing how to create a reliable service.

Frequently, ICT support has been regarded as somewhere to go when things go wrong. One of the goals of FITS is to break away from this reactive, fire fighting approach. FITS shows how to develop a more reliable service where the role of the ICT staff is better understood and their contribution to the smooth running of the organisation is better appreciated.

Schools & Colleges that have introduced FITS have experienced reduced disruption to classes, better use of the ICT budget as well as far fewer support incidents. One college recently introduced FITS and achieved over a 30% reduction in support calls! This has allowed them to expand on the services they offer to their school.

These accreditations include classroom style teaching, interactive group exercises and case studies with an online exam on the last day and are now offered in a range of training centres with onsite courses being available for groups of 7 or more delegates.

Be among the first to take advantage of these new qualifications, developed specifically for school technicians, by calling us on 01926-800121 or email support@thefitsfoundation.org
