Dear Headteacher

Welcome to Hibernia College UK.  Accredited to run teacher training programmes in England in September 2011, HCUK is fast gaining a reputation for high quality, innovative ITT and subject knowledge enhancement (SKE) programmes, developed and delivered in partnership with high performing schools around the country. HCUK’s parent company, Hibernia College, is the largest ITT provider in Ireland, with a worldwide reputation for delivering high quality, online ITT and CPD programmes for over 12 years.

In this prospectus we set out how our unique SKE courses support schools and teachers in providing high quality teaching in maths, physics, chemistry and modern foreign languages. .  These courses are designed for existing qualified teachers (teachers who already have qualified teacher status) who are teaching, or who are likely to teach, maths, physics, chemistry or modern foreign languages but who have never received training specific to these subjects.

Our courses are unique because they are:
available nationally;
accessible 24/7;
fully flexible;
delivered online using the latest interactive technology;
developed and delivered by schools for schools.

HCUK’s SKE courses are fully funded - they do not cost schools or eligible participating teachers anything. The full cost is met directly by the Department for Education through the Teaching Agency. Not only are the courses free to eligible teachers but HCUK will provide participants with a high quality tablet which they can use to access their SKE course 24/7 and we will also provide schools with up to £150 per participating teacher for supply cover and other costs incurred by the school in supporting the participating teacher.

I hope that the attached prospectus provides you with useful information about how to meet your school’s need for high quality teachers in maths, physics, chemistry and modern foreign languages. We estimate that there are more than 20,000 existing qualified teachers already teaching one or more of these subjects who are not specialist teachers of the subject.  The number of places on our courses is limited and we anticipate that demand will be high as there are many potential eligible teachers who will be attracted by the accessibility and flexibility our SKE courses.

We plan to start our first maths, chemistry and physics courses in November 2012 and our first modern foreign languages courses in March 2013. Additional start dates will be made available as the programme develops. If you would like further information, or would like to reserve places on one of our SKE courses, please contact Fiona Longmore on  flongmore@hiberniacollege.net
