The International Baccalaureate Primary Years programme Tuesday, 21st February, 2012 A one day conference for senior school leaders on the IB programmes of study and their impact on creative and transformational learning, and raising student achievement. Organised by The Schools Network and the IB Schools and Colleges Association (IBSCA) Nigel Ashton - Headteacher, Leverhulme Primary School, Bolton (leverhulmeprimaryschoolbolton.org.uk) will present on the strategic implications and how the PYP was implemented. " The PYP has made a significant contribution to raising standards rapidly with pupils benefitting motivationally, practically & personally from using inquiry to underpin their learning ensuring all of them make good progress" Keynote speaker will be Mick Waters, former director of curriculum at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and the architect of the latest secondary curriculum. The day will be led by school practitioners, who will explain both how and why they introduced IB programmes and the impact this has had.
An overview will be given of the IB continuum of education followed by a series of workshops which will allow participants to build a better understanding of the programmes relevant to their interest. The afternoon keynote speaker will be a Head Teacher with an overview on the impact of the IB continuum on a UK State School.
