17 January 2012
Dear School,
Make 2012 a fact-filled year for your creative curriculum
What facts do you want to teach your children in 2012? What facts do you want them to learn? From the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II to the London 2012 Olympics, the year ahead is filled with opportunities to boost learning and literacy, and the 11 non-fiction authors listed below are available to help you.
A non-fiction author visit
A visit from a non-fiction author is quite unlike the usual experience of a fiction writer, poet or illustrator. As well as boosting literacy, and encouraging reluctant readers with a variety of exciting topics, it's an 'adventure in the real world'. Such a visit introduces children to key skills such as research, teamwork, negotiation, co-operative learning, and more.
How to book
To find out more about an author, their
events, costs and to make a booking, please contact the author
directly. Each author has a website which gives full information
about themselves and the school visits they make.
Discount off usual costs
Please note the discount codes in the author details below. Make sure you mention the code to the author of your choice to receive the discount offered. The discounts are valid for visits made during this school year.
Regions covered by authors
Each author has indicated where they live
and which regions are most convenient for them to visit. We are aware
that not every area of the UK is specifically mentioned. This does
not mean that an author will not visit you - please contact an author of your choice
to see what can be arranged.
We hope you find this contact list of
interest, and look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
John Malam
(on behalf of the authors named here)
