Dear Head of PSHE, Paul describes how his use of recreational drug and alcohol misuse throughout his teens became powerful forces in his life, leading him to be excluded from 3 local schools, join a local gang and receive a string of convictions as a youth. . . all of which conspired to lead him into his future path of addiction in his 20s and the painful descent into a world of despair, life threatening chaos and crime for 15 years. Paul's story is ideal for schools wanting to address the personal, social and health consequences of drug use, with Paul's project available to support and add experiential value to existing teacher-led drug education programmes. Paul has worked with over 60 primary and secondary schools, colleges, pupil referral units, the police, fire brigade, social services and is developing his work with the Kickz project run by Premiership football clubs. Please visit Paul's website at www.paulhannaford.com for further details about his work and how to discuss planning a visit to your school to speak with teachers, pupils or parents.
