Redheart Theatre is proud to announce that its acclaimed production of
Gothic Tales is now booking until end of March 2012.

The show is performed live in your school and comprises three classic Victorian Gothic Horror stories:

The Red Room by HG Wells,

The Signalman by Charles Dickens

and The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe.

Suitable for Year 7-13, it is performed by experienced professional actor Rupert Mason and adapted and directed by the award-winning playwright Justin Butcher. It is performed in period costume with a simple set and atmospheric lighting, together with spooky sound and music designed by TV and film composer Jack C Arnold. First performed in 2005 it has been enjoyed by school and adult audiences alike.

For English Departments these stories provide a good introduction to the genre for anyone studying Gothic literature in general.

For Drama Departments this production offers great stimulus. The performance, by a single actor, demonstrates how different characters can be delineated by changes of voice and physicality, building tension and creating atmosphere in the process.  The latter is also considerably enhanced by the use of simple but ingenious lighting and sound effects.
