Dear Literacy co-ordinator This year Royal Mail’s letter writing competition for children aged 7-11 asks your pupils to write about their favourite book. Here are some ideas for children’s letters:
Prizes The competition is split into eleven regions, so there are lots of prizes to be won. Winners will each receive £50 in book tokens and their face on a set of Smilers stamps, plus a £100 box of letter-writing goodies for their class writing corner. The three runners-up will each receive a £20 book token, and every child whose letter is short listed will receive a set of stamps. On the website www.royalmail.com/ylwc is a 'Reward for Writing' certificate you can print off for each child who takes part. Participating schools will all be sent a 'Committed to Literacy' certificate for the lobby. Categories We accept letters in all formats from children aged 7-9 and 10-11. There is a Special Achievement prize for children you tell us about who have overcome particular difficulties to enter. Languages There are categories for letters written in Irish and Welsh --->
