RVC on Tour 2011

The Royal Veterinary College tours the UK to inspire the next generation

The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is hosting a series of careers events across the country in September, to encourage more young people to consider studying in a veterinary-related field.

'RVC on Tour' is a perfect opportunity for secondary-school students who might be interested in a career working with animals to find out what it involves. The tour also hopes to impress upon future students that a veterinary education can be used qualify them for a diverse range of professions, and being a vet is just one of these.

Attendees will also have the chance to carry out practical veterinary and scientific skills from the RVC's LIVE Centre such as; bandaging, gowning, gloving, suturing and attempting a one-handed tie. In addition to these activities guests will have the opportunity to practice clinical techniques using a state-of-the-art Haptic laptop, which contains the Core Skills Trainer; a collection of computer games that use haptic technology (sense of touch) to teach key skills needed to become a veterinary professional.
