DESCRIPTION 

Soren Bennick's The Power of One is a skit-based anti-bullying performance that reviews the bullying process in educational detail.  The message of the show is that every child has the Power of One, the power to report and deal with bullying when they see it.

Skits are presented that shows Physical, Exclusion, and Cyber bullying and the negative effects that result.  In a special Bystander scene, children are recruited from the audience to play Bystanders who cheer, watch, and ignore the bullying. The audience is taught that Bystanders are as guilty as bullies. Then, the scene is replayed, this time with the former Bystanders acting out possible solutions, including intervening, reporting, and walking the Target away. 

Masks, boxes, and colours are used to symbolically represent the roles that occur in bullying. Green is for the bully, purple is for the Target, and yellow is for the Bystander.

Children learn about the Power of One by looking inside the Power of One box (which has a mirror inside) and seeing themselves.

The audience then takes the Power of One oath:

I will not bully others
I will not stand by while others are bullied
I will report and deal with bullying whenever I see it
Because I have the Power of One


ANTI-BULLYING OATH BOARD
The Power of One oath board is a professionally printed, 2'x4' (0.6m x 1.2m +/-) mounted poster that is presented to the school at the end of the show. After the show, the Headteacher makes the poster board available to each classrooms for discussion purposes and so that all the children in the school can sign the board. Once everyone has signed, the poster is then usually displayed in the front lobby of the school.

The Power of One can be performed on the school stage, on the gym floor, or in any large open area. We bring our own sound system and set the show up on own.  Payment is due in the days following the show.  No deposit is required.
