Dear Sir or Madam

RE: Radiation Protection Course

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Niall Higbee and I am a certificated Radiation Protection Adviser. I have been providing courses in radiation protection to schools since 2008.

If your school uses radioactive sources for practicals, in physics, then the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (Reg. 15) requires that RPS’s and staff are trained and informed. The HSE recommend training and refresher training should be completed at an interval of 3-5 years.

Our Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) course will help the employer comply and fully meets the advice given in the HSE Information leaflet no. 6. We issue a certificate to successful candidates. The course is interactive and most delegates mention how they enjoy the course.

Yours faithfully

Niall C. Higbee BSc MSc CRadP MSRP -Certificated Radiation Protection Adviser (as recognised by the HSE).

WORKING SAFELY WITH RADIOACTIVE SOURCES”

A lively, informative and interactive course!

Radiation Protection Training Course for Radiation Protection Supervisors, Teachers, Technicians, Radiation Protection Officers and other Staff.

Course venue: James Hornsby School.

Leinster Road, Laindon, Basildon
Essex, SS15 5NX

Tuesday, 20th March 2018; 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM

£155 (Inc.) per delegate

The course is designed to enable Radiation Protection Supervisors, Radiation Protection Officers, teachers, technicians and other staff, to be aware of the hazards from radioactive sources; unsealed sources and sealed sources and to provide the knowledge of how to protect themselves and others. Typical controls to prevent radiation accidents and to keep exposure ‘As Low As Reasonably Practicable’ (ALARP) are explored. The controls may be physical or procedural. We show the importance of following Local Rules / Standard Operating Procedures.

There will be a demonstration of the correct handling and use of radioactive sources, showing potential doses of incorrect handling. Monitoring; inspection and leak testing of sources will also be demonstrated. We cannot escape the law and the legal requirement to comply with IRR17, EPR16 and other legislation is covered. The provision of information, instruction and training, is itself, a requirement of IRR17 and a certificate of attendance is issued for delegates and schools.
The course is interactive and most delegates mention how they enjoy the course.
