The Essential Update for History Subject Leaders: Assessment, Policy and Outstanding Practice
For subject leaders and school leaders
Ofsted, have restated the importance of Assessment. This course provides History
subject leaders with an opportunity to review the expectations of the Primary History
curriculum through use of a skill progression planner and to reflect on how teacher
assessments of learning can be judged effectively. Expectations at each key stage will
be explored, and there will be the opportunity to examine outstanding practice from other
schools. A variety of examples of assessing without levels will be explored.
Important subject leader issues will also be addressed - such as how to create an
effective history policy, and the requirements needed for school websites regarding the
revised history curriculum.

Outstanding History, Geography and Art in the New KS1 Curriculum
For teachers and support staff in KS1
This course is for KS1 teachers and support staff who want to familiarise themselves
with the History, Geography and Art programmes of study in a fun and stimulating way.
We will explore the progression of skills and assessment without levels by using
progression planners that are simple yet highly effective. The course will provide a
wealth of ideas, sources and resources that relate to existing units and the creation of
new ones.

The Ultimate History Course: Thames Foreshore Mudlarking Event
For KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 teachers, subject leaders,
heads of department and support staff
This is the first time teaching staff have been authorised to Mudlark on the Thames
foreshore as part of a history course. This one day event provides teachers & support
staff from Primary & Secondary schools with the exciting opportunity to take part in a
supervised session of Mudlarking on the Thames foreshore. This course has been many
years in the making & is organised in conjunction with Her Majesty's Crown Estates &
the PLA (Port of London Authority). Your tutors for the day are experts in their field, and
have over 30 years of Mudlarking experience between them. Their finely developed
skills will help you to examine areas and identify artefacts on the foreshore. Steve
Brooker & Nick Stevens are both members of the Society Of Thames Mudlarks. They
run their own club Thames and Field and have appeared on numerous documentaries &
history programs. History Channnel's hit TV show Mud Men followed their archeological
adventures on the banks of the Thames, alongside co-presenter Johnny Vaughan.
By the end of this course you will:

Please bring wellies and suitable outdoor clothing, and a smart phone or iPad for
photos and research. There are changing facilities and toilets at the course venue,
along with some trowels and small buckets and trays |
